Alongside our core partnerships, the Foundation makes grants to a growing group of organisations working in our two priority areas: improving access to education, and protecting biodiversity through community-led conservation.
Partnership sits at the heart of everything the DHD Foundation does. Alongside the organisations we work with most closely, we make grants to a growing group of others whose work advances our two priority areas: improving access to education, and protecting biodiversity through community-led conservation.
These relationships are funding-led. We back a specific project, campaign or programme, always chosen because the work is locally rooted and built to last. From nature regeneration in the Scottish Highlands to community enterprise on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, our grant partners show that lasting change takes many hands in many places.

HIEF protects biodiversity across the Scottish Highlands and Islands, funding locally-led conservation projects and campaigns as part of the Conservation Collective.
Local knowledge sits at the centre of everything HIEF does. It directs funding to locally-led projects across the region, from woodland restoration at Ardura Community Forest on Mull to marine litter monitoring across the islands and coastal education programmes for young people. Our multi-year grant is unrestricted, giving HIEF the flexibility to back the projects that need it most, when they need it.

Dave and Ali Swann have worked in community development and empowerment since 1989.
Dave and Ali support local, field-based teams across Africa and Asia. Their work spans education, clean water, sustainable agriculture and leadership training, from a school in rural Guinea-Bissau to teacher training in Vietnam. Our grant helps cover the travel and living costs that keep them alongside the teams they mentor.

The Prajava Gama Foundation is a local and community-led organisation in Mawella, on Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
Its work spans women’s empowerment, environmental stewardship and community wellbeing, building a circular economy between local residents and the area’s growing tourism industry. Projects include a community bakery supplying nearby hotels and guesthouses, commercial laundry and small manufacturing ventures, and a community shop. Our grant supports this locally-driven work and the lasting opportunity it creates in the village.
